“Digital rape” is not a term that has a widely accepted or specific definition. However, it is sometimes used to refer to non-consensual sexual experiences that take place online, such as the distribution of sexually explicit images or videos without the consent of the person depicted, or sexual harassment or assault that takes place over digital communication platforms like text messages or social media.
It can also include cyberstalking, or non-consensual sexual advances or requests made through digital means. It is also known as cyber sexual abuse or cyber sexual violence, this term encompasses all unwanted sexual activities or behaviors that take place in digital space. It is a very serious crime, and is a violation of the victim’s rights, and it can leave severe psychological trauma.
It is important to understand that these experiences can be just as serious and damaging as in-person sexual harassment or assault, and should be taken just as seriously.
